“If I die, I want you to do something for at-risk youth. But I’m not dying.”
Staff Sgt. Roee Marom z”l
Caring for youth
How Roee lived
Roee, son of Tali and Raanan, brother to Shira, Michal, and Eyal. He was from Ra’anana, a graduate of the Nachshon class and the Rabin Leadership Academy, and was a youth scout troop coordinator. He served in the Haruv Reconnaissance Unit and later as commander of the squad leaders’ class in the 906th Battalion. Ten minutes before entering Gaza, he asked to be quoted: “If I die, I want you to do something for at-risk youth. But I’m not dying – I’m coming back to do it myself.” He was killed 13 days later in northern Gaza. He planned to work with at-risk youth and dreamed of founding a youth village. He was 22 years old when he fell.
